U.S. Trade Representative Grier will travel to India for trade negotiations, and senior U.S. officials say they are hopeful to reach an agreement.

A senior U.S. government official said on Saturday that U.S. Trade Representative Jamie Gurr will travel to India the week after the end of the G7 summit and that the two sides may reach a trade agreement. The official said that President Trump and Indian Prime Minister Modi will meet next week during the G7 meeting in France and that trade will be one of the topics of discussion, but it is not expected that a trade agreement will be finalized at the summit.
