Yonhap News Agency cited judicial sources as saying that the South Korean prosecution has conducted a surprise search on Samsung Electronics headquarters. The case involves suspicions that employees of its subsidiary Rainbow Robotics illegally profited from using insider information during Samsung's acquisition of the company. The report stated that investigators from the Southern District Prosecutor's Office in Seoul went to Samsung Electronics headquarters in Suwon to carry out the search and seizure operation. The financial regulatory department has transferred 16 related individuals including the president and chief financial officer of Rainbow Robotics to the prosecution. The individuals involved are suspected of making illegal profits of approximately 30 to 40 billion Korean won by using insider information during Samsung's acquisition of the company from 2022 to 2024.
