Anthropic CEO calls for mandatory testing of AI models and granting government intervention rights.
On June 10, local time, Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, released a lengthy article stating that if new artificial intelligence models bring specific risks, governments should have the right to prevent AI developers from deploying these models. Amodei advocates for artificial intelligence models to undergo mandatory third-party testing in order to evaluate potential risks in multiple areas, including triggering cybersecurity threats and manufacturing biological weapons. If AI is deemed to "pose unacceptable risks," "the government should have the right to prevent or restrict its deployment." Anthropic also called last week for the establishment of a mechanism where the government and AI developers jointly decide when to slow down related research and development efforts to prevent the risks that this technology may bring.
