Our country's original RNA editing technology is applied for the first time in the world to treat rare diseases.
On June 10th, the team led by Professor Wei Wensheng from Changping Laboratory/Beijing University announced that their RNA editing technology, LEAPER, has achieved international leading results in the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a severe genetic rare disease. This is the first time that China's original RNA editing technology has entered clinical research, and it is also the first time internationally that RNA editing has been applied in the treatment of DMD. Two important achievements of this technology and its application were published simultaneously in the international academic journal "Cell" which was launched online on the same day.
