Recently, many universities have successively issued notices to promote the application for new undergraduate programs in 2026. Among them, the Academic Affairs Office of Ningbo University mentioned in the "Notice on the Application for New Undergraduate Programs in 2026" that for the application work in 2026, each college must resolutely implement the fundamental task of cultivating virtue and talents, adhere to the principle of "controlling the total number, optimizing the existing number, and making good use of the additional number", and basically implement the "one in, one out" mechanism. Each college should intensify efforts to "close, stop, and transfer" existing programs, and except for strategic urgently needed programs, in principle, only reduce or decrease the increase. It is focused on meeting the integrated strategic requirements for education and technology talent, and deepening the construction of "new engineering, new medical, new agricultural, and new humanities" disciplines. According to the requirements of the "Notice on the Setting of Undergraduate Programs in Ordinary Higher Education Institutions in Zhejiang Province for the year 2025" by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education Office, the proportion of science, engineering, agriculture, and medical programs among the newly applied programs in 2026 should not be less than 70%.
