Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development: Support for self-renovation of old housing
On June 8th, the State Council Information Office held a regular press conference on State Council policies, where Deputy Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development Qin Haixiang, along with officials from the National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of Natural Resources, introduced the "Fifteen Five-Year Plan for Urban Renewal". Deputy Minister Qin Haixiang emphasized that the core of a city is its people, and the fundamental purpose of urban renewal work is to improve the lives of the people, making them more convenient, comfortable, and fulfilling.
The "Fifteen Five-Year Plan for Urban Renewal" deploys efforts in four aspects: constructing good houses, neighborhoods, communities, and urban areas, in order to enhance the quality of residential living for residents. In terms of building good houses, the focus is on implementing projects to improve the quality of housing, constructing and renovating safe, comfortable, green, and smart houses. On one hand, efforts will be made to improve the quality of newly built houses, upgrading housing standards, design, materials, construction, and maintenance levels throughout the entire process, implementing residential project norms, optimizing housing design, and enhancing residential layout functionality.
On the other hand, efforts will be made to renovate and upgrade old houses, encouraging residents to renovate and improve their housing, promoting prefabricated decoration and elderly-friendly, barrier-free enhancements, supporting self-initiated updates for old houses. Additionally, the deployment of technological projects to enhance housing quality, breakthroughs in key technologies, and the application of technology to empower the construction of good houses, are also discussed.
