Lean hog futures settlement prices fell, ending the day's trading, with the most active contract dropping 2.9% to 98.7 cents per pound. This is the second consecutive day of decline for pork futures, bringing it below the $1 per pound mark. The factor driving the decline in this futures contract is the drop in average pork carcass cutout prices, which fell 38 cents per hundredweight to $98.13 per hundredweight yesterday. Meanwhile, live cattle futures closed almost flat at $2.41625 per pound, as the market was shaken by the confirmation of new cases of New World screw-worm disease in the United States.
