Report: Cargill is in talks to sell its metals business to Macquarie.

According to five informed sources, global commodity trading giant Cargill is in negotiations to sell its metals business unit to Macquarie Group. This move aims to allow the global trading giant to focus more on its core food and agriculture business. An internal memo from 2024 shows that Cargill CEO Brian Sikes has clearly stated: "At our core, we have always been a food and agriculture company." If this potential sale transaction is ultimately completed, it will not be the first asset reshuffle between Cargill and Macquarie. In 2017, Cargill sold its petroleum business, including crude oil and petroleum products, to this Australian investment bank.
