Russia: Ukrainian army violates ceasefire agreement and attacks Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant.
Russian state atomic energy company CEO Likhachev said in St. Petersburg to local media on the 5th that the Ukrainian armed forces launched a drone attack on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant that day, injuring 3 engineers and 5 Russian soldiers. Likhachev said that the Ukrainian army launched the first attack at 12:15 Moscow time, targeting the Russian nuclear energy company experts who were repairing the nuclear power plant; the second attack occurred at 13:15, when the Ukrainian army used drones to throw a projectile at the Russian Defense Ministry demining team.
On the morning of the 5th, at around 8 o'clock, the International Atomic Energy Agency posted on social media that a temporary ceasefire agreement negotiated by it between Russia and Ukraine near the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant took effect that day. The temporary ceasefire aims to repair the important power lines of the nuclear power plant and prevent nuclear accidents.
The Russian Defense Ministry posted on social media that the Ukrainian army's attack on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant occurred in the first few hours after the ceasefire agreement took effect. Likhachev pointed out that the daily intensive air strikes by the Ukrainian army pose a real, rather than "potential," threat to nuclear safety in Europe as a whole. Russia has raised concerns to the International Atomic Energy Agency about Ukraine's violation of the ceasefire agreement and will take all measures to ensure the safety of the population.
