The United Nations calls for raising nearly $640 million in aid for Lebanon.
On the 5th, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs released a revised version of the humanitarian appeal for Lebanon, stating the need to raise approximately $640 million in aid funds to address the humanitarian crisis caused by ongoing conflict. In March of this year, the United Nations called for the raising of $308 million in aid funds to support Lebanon government-led humanitarian response actions, but as of the end of May, only about $185 million has been raised. Between March and the end of May, this funding has provided assistance to approximately 680,000 people. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs stated that an additional $331 million needs to be raised. The revised aid plan is expected to cover approximately 1.4 million people, representing about a quarter of the total population of Lebanon.
