Yao Shunyu responds to joining Tencent

At the 2026 Tencent Cloud AI Industry Application Conference held today, Tang Daosheng, Senior Executive Vice President of Tencent Group and CEO of Cloud and Smart Industries, will have a dialogue with Tencent's Chief AI Scientist Yao Shunyu, with the theme of "Tencent AI in the second half". When asked why he chose to come to Tencent, Yao Shunyu said, "The most important reason is culture. I remember the first time I chatted with you, including chatting with many other bosses, my first impression was that everyone was very honest, pointing out both strengths and weaknesses very directly, without covering up. I think this honesty is my first important reason." Yao Shunyu also mentioned, "The second reason is that Tencent as a whole is a company that operates based on trust, not metrics. I think this is very important for doing AI, including our persistence in long-termism."
