Due to the continuous price increase of DDR5, many PC manufacturers are now re-investing in DDR4.
The price of DDR5 memory continues to rise, with current prices being 4-5 times higher than DDR4 memory. Not only is DDR4 memory more affordable than DDR5 memory, but the DDR4 platform itself is also much cheaper than the DDR5 platform. According to the latest report from Tom's Hardware, many manufacturers have seen a surge in demand for DDR4 compatible motherboards since the collapse of the memory market. Therefore, they are preparing to restart the production of DDR4 compatible motherboards. During the 2026 Taipei International Computer Show, several motherboard brands and memory module manufacturers revealed that, due to memory shortages and price increases, the PC industry is once again turning to DDR4.
