Daniela Amodei, co-founder and president of the artificial intelligence technology company Anthropic PBC, stated that the astonishing cost of developing AI models is driving companies like hers to turn to public capital markets for funding. Amodei believes that "training AI models is an extremely capital-intensive business," and the public markets are "very suitable for this characteristic." Just days after Claude's developers secretly submitted documents for a US IPO, Amodei candidly admitted on stage at a summit in San Francisco, "The secret application gives us the right to choose when to go public after review by the SEC, unfortunately, I can only reveal this much about anything related to the IPO at this time." Amodei stated that Anthropic hopes to plan for the best outcome but will not purchase more computing resources than it can efficiently output. She said, "We would rather see demand for the product exceed our current service capability just a little bit."
