Our country's scientists have decoded the mechanism of crops adjusting their flowering period according to cold resistance.
Researcher Xu Cao from the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences led the intelligent breeding team that spent 8 years on a continuous research project. They discovered the first small peptide signal that senses low temperatures during the reproductive period of crops, unraveling the mechanism of pollen development in crops and low-temperature sensing and signal transduction. This mechanism explains how plants facing unpredictable short-term cold stress can achieve precise and efficient defense through "on-demand stress resistance" to ensure resilience and stable production. This achievement was published online in the international academic journal "Nature" on June 3rd Beijing time.
