The Spanish government has activated the heat protection mechanism ahead of time.

According to Spanish authorities, in response to the health risks caused by the ongoing rise in temperatures, the Spanish government has implemented its annual high-temperature protection plan. Data shows that due to the recent prolonged heatwave, a total of 101 people died from heat-related causes in Spain in May, with the majority being elderly people, mainly from the northern regions of Spain.
