Former Australian official launches a public investigation into the cooperation between the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia.

Former Australian Environment Minister Peter Garrett announced on the 2nd that he is launching a public investigation into the trilateral security partnership and nuclear submarine cooperation between the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia, with the aim of examining the impact of the cooperation on Australian sovereignty, security, and other aspects. In a statement, Garrett stated that the trilateral security partnership between the US, UK, and Australia is the most costly and complex project that the Australian government has been involved in to date, but parliament and the public have not had the opportunity to inquire, debate, and make decisions about the project. He said, "It is urgent to conduct a public investigation into this plan that consumes a huge amount of taxpayers' funds."
