Gansu Province improves the ecological compensation mechanism to promote basin coordinated governance.

Journalists learned from the press conference held by the Gansu Provincial Government Information Office on the 2nd that Gansu is continuously improving its watershed ecological compensation mechanism. In cross-provincial horizontal ecological compensation, the improvement of characteristic pollutants will be explored as an important basis for accounting for compensation funds. Xue Lei, Deputy Director of the Gansu Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment, introduced that by 2025, relevant departments in Gansu Province will formulate and issue the "Implementation Plan for Further Improving the Horizontal Ecological Protection Compensation Mechanism". They will adhere to the overall planning and promotion of both banks, upper and lower reaches, and accelerate the establishment of a comprehensive horizontal ecological compensation mechanism for the Yellow River, Yangtze River, and inland river basins within and between provinces.
