Lower one more position! Japan retreats to become the world's third largest creditor country.
Data released by the Japanese Ministry of Finance on Tuesday (May 26) shows that as of the end of 2025, Japan's net foreign assets reached 561.75 trillion yen (approximately 3.5 trillion dollars), with a year-on-year increase of 4.4%. However, in terms of national and regional rankings, Japan has fallen from second place to third, now ranking as the world's third largest creditor nation.
