More than 33 Britain breaks the record for "hottest May day"

According to data from the UK Met Office, the temperature in the area of London's Heathrow Airport reached 33.5 degrees Celsius on May 25th local time, breaking the UK's single-day high temperature record for May. Since meteorological records began in the UK, the previous highest temperature for a May day was 32.8 degrees Celsius, which occurred for the first time in 1922 and again in 1944. In recent years, climate change has led to the UK experiencing frequent periods of unusually high temperatures, with 2025 being the hottest year on record.
