The report released by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute on the 25th shows that the total number of personnel participating in global peacekeeping operations in 2025 is less than 79,000, only about half of that in 2016. Insufficient funding is one of the main reasons for the significant reduction in peacekeeping personnel. The report states that as of December 2025, the number of personnel participating in global peacekeeping missions has decreased to 78,633, a 17% decrease compared to the previous year, and a 49% decrease compared to 2016. In 2025, there are a total of 58 peacekeeping missions operating in 34 countries and regions globally, with the number of peacekeeping teams decreased by 3 from the previous year.
