In the third week of May, the prices of live pigs and pork saw a slight decline.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, monitoring 500 county markets and collection points, last week, the national price of live pigs was 10.12 yuan per kilogram, a decrease of 0.4% compared to the previous week; the price of pork in market was 19.98 yuan per kilogram, a decrease of 0.4% compared to the previous week. According to the monitoring and dispatch of 200 wholesale markets by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the average price of pork in national wholesale markets last week was 14.76 yuan per kilogram, a decrease of 0.5% compared to the previous week and a decrease of 28.5% year-on-year. Experts believe that most areas of the country experienced rainy weather last week, but the overall temperature increased compared to the previous period. Pork consumption has remained stable with a slight decrease, leading to a slight drop in prices of live pigs and pork. Looking ahead, it is expected that this week, the prices of live pigs and pork will continue to fluctuate slightly.
