Shanghai Electric successfully delivered the core equipment for the BEST device.

Recently, the first batch of two sets of 1/8 sector vacuum chamber cold screens and lower window cold screens of the core component middle cold screen of the compact fusion energy experimental device undertaken by Shanghai Electric Nuclear Power Group have passed acceptance inspection and been successfully delivered to the site, laying a solid foundation for the overall assembly and system integration of the project. This marks China's continuous progress towards engineering, localization, and indigenization in the extreme manufacturing field of fusion reactors. The middle cold screen of BEST, as the core low-temperature shielding component of the BEST fusion reactor, plays a key role in isolating high-temperature environments and ensuring the ultra-low temperature operation of superconducting magnets, with its performance directly related to the safety and efficiency of the entire fusion experimental device. Since the start of the project, the on-site team has worked together to overcome technical challenges such as large-sized thin-walled component forming, ultra-long three-dimensional space cooling pipe bending technology, and high-precision tube plate welding deformation control.
