Three weeks after the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicked off in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, football fans from around the world have spontaneously started using artificial intelligence to create songs supporting their favorite teams to boost morale. These fan-made songs have garnered millions of views on social media platforms. The trend of creating these songs started with a song dedicated to the French team. Released by a French artist in February of this year, the song starts with a question and answer format listing the names of French national team players like Mbappe. Following this, Brazilian musician Gilielme Maia created a song for the Brazilian team. In the production process, he used AI to overlay different musical elements and also used the format of calling out the names of players. Support songs for teams like Portugal, Argentina, and Germany have since emerged, following Maia's creative format and gaining popularity among fans on online platforms. Some of these songs have even surpassed the official theme songs commissioned by FIFA in terms of popularity.
