On May 20th local time, SpaceX submitted a filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission revealing that the company has invested over $15 billion in the development of the giant "Starship" rocket project. This figure exceeds the CEO Elon Musk's 2018 research and development cost forecast of $2 to $10 billion. The filing shows that SpaceX's investment in the development of the "Starship" is accelerating: the research and development expenditure for the project in 2025 is approximately $3 billion, while the expenditure in 2024 is $1.84 billion. Currently, the manufacturing and launch of the "Starship" are taking place at the interstellar base in southern Texas.
