According to a knowledgeable source, the UK government is planning to delay the fuel tax increase scheduled for September to alleviate the economic pressures on drivers. They stated that, given the significant rise in gasoline and diesel prices since the Iran war, the decision to postpone the price adjustment is expected to be announced soon. The fuel tax was originally set to increase by 1 pence per liter in September, followed by a 2 pence increase in December, and another 2 pence increase in March 2027. In recent months, the cost of car fuel has kept the UK's inflation rate significantly higher than the Bank of England's 2% target level, putting greater pressure on the government led by Stammer to reduce the burden of living costs on households. The high cost of fuel will also impact the prices of other goods.
