Rocky Mountain Institute: Global data center carbon emissions could triple by 2030, with aluminum being a key material with hidden carbon emissions.
On May 20th, at the 3rd China Green Aluminum Industry Summit, Li Shuyi, Director of the Heavy Industry and Circular Economy Department of the Rocky Mountain Institute, stated that by 2030, carbon emissions from global data centers could triple, with 40% of these emissions coming from the embedded carbon generated in the production of materials and equipment. Aluminum is one of the top four key materials for hidden carbon emissions in data centers.
