British Transport Minister Heidi Alexander revealed on the 19th that the total cost of the UK High Speed Rail Line 2 project is now expected to increase to a maximum of 102.7 billion, a significant increase from previous estimates. The project's full operational date has also been pushed back to the early 2040s. HS2 is one of the largest and most controversial infrastructure projects in the UK in recent years. The project was originally planned to build a high-speed rail network connecting London, Birmingham, Manchester, and Leeds. However, due to continuously rising costs and repeated delays, the government has cancelled multiple sections of the line, and the current construction plan is focused on the London to Birmingham section.
