The Chinese Basketball Association severely penalizes Inner Mongolia Nongxin Basketball Club based on the bribery case ruling.
The Chinese Basketball Association announced on the 20th that, due to personnel of Inner Mongolia Nongxin Basketball Club Limited Company committing the crime of bribing non-state personnel, the CBA has issued severe penalties including revoking the 2023-2024 season Chinese Women's Basketball League runner-up award from the club. According to the "Disciplinary and Moral Committee of the Chinese Basketball Association's Decision on Penalties for Inner Mongolia Nongxin Basketball Club and Related Personnel", based on the facts established in Criminal Judgment No. 0102Xing Chu 251 and Criminal Ruling No. 01Xing Zhong 20, during the 2023-2024 season of the Chinese Women's Basketball League, the general manager of Inner Mongolia Nongxin Basketball Club, Guo Jiajie, and athlete Zou Qijia conspired to seek improper benefits for the club, committing the crime of bribing non-state personnel. According to the criminal facts established in the judicial documents and the circumstances listed, the former head coach of Inner Mongolia Nongxin Basketball Club, Yang Zan, and the former deputy general manager of Shanxi Xingrui Professional Basketball Club, Ma Jun, were found to have personally participated, suggested, or assisted in manipulating matches. In accordance with Article 7, Article 34, and Article 69 of the "Disciplinary Guidelines and Penalties of the Chinese Basketball Association" and Articles 20 and 21 of the "Penalty Regulations for Violations in the 2023-2024 season of the Chinese Women's Basketball League," the Disciplinary and Moral Committee of the CBA has issued the following penalties: 1. Guo Jiajie and Zou Qijia are banned for life from engaging in activities related to basketball. 2. Yang Zan is banned from engaging in activities related to basketball for three years. 3. Ma Jun is banned from engaging in activities related to basketball for three years. 4. Inner Mongolia Nongxin Basketball Club is fined one million yuan, the runner-up award for the 2023-2024 season of the Chinese Women's Basketball League is revoked, and its registration is suspended for three years. The CBA officials stated that for fraudulent and illegal behavior, the CBA always adheres to a "zero tolerance, strict accountability" attitude, and will not tolerate behavior that crosses the line, resolutely cracking down strictly and severely in accordance with the law and regulations.
