Indian airlines request oil companies to postpone raising domestic flight aviation fuel prices.
According to informed sources, major Indian airlines have requested state-owned oil refining companies to temporarily freeze the domestic aviation fuel prices before the end of the Middle East conflict, in order to alleviate the continuous increase in cost pressures and expanding losses. The sources said that the airlines such as Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, etc., have made this demand, which is currently being discussed by oil refining companies. The relevant negotiations are still in a non-public stage, so the sources are unwilling to be named. The Indian Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has also intervened in the matter and may intervene again, as the department had previously implemented related regulatory measures in April and May. The relevant decision is expected to be finalized before June 1. The prices of aviation kerosene in Indian airlines are determined by domestic oil sales companies, and price adjustments are usually completed on the first day of each month. While this category of oil prices has long been subject to market-based pricing, after the international oil prices surged due to the Iran situation, the Indian government implemented control policies in April, setting a maximum increase limit of 25% for aviation fuel and requiring major oil companies to keep prices stable and unchanged in May.
