On May 17th, Liu Ning, the Secretary of the Henan Provincial Party Committee, conducted a research in Xuchang City, Zhengzhou City, and Jiaozuo City to promote the high-quality development of the follow-up projects of the South-to-North Water Diversion and flood prevention work. During the research, Liu Ning emphasized that our province has officially entered the flood season. Recently, some areas of our province have experienced the first round of large-scale and persistent rainfall this year. It is necessary to firmly establish the mindset of bottom line thinking and extreme thinking, further strengthen flood prevention and disaster relief responsibilities, improve emergency response and command abilities in case of disasters, focus on key areas such as mountain torrents, narrow river channels, tunnels, construction sites, and other critical locations, strengthen risk prevention and control at the source, enhance forecasting, prediction, warning, planning, and rehearsal efforts, implement the "on-demand" mechanism directly to the grassroots level, coordinate and dispatch various emergency rescue forces and materials, and strengthen flood prevention safety measures with a sense of responsibility to ensure the safety. In response to the potential impacts of this round of rainfall, such as lodging and waterlogging affecting wheat crops, timely drainage and maintenance of the lodging wheat fields should be done, seize the opportunity to harvest crops in time to ensure the safe storage of summer grains.
