A former Mexican official is suspected of assisting in drug trafficking and is on trial in the United States.

The former Secretary of Public Safety of Sinaloa, Mexico, Hraldo Mrida Snchez, appeared for the first time in a federal district court in New York on the 15th. The U.S. authorities accused him of taking bribes and assisting the Sinaloa drug cartel in smuggling drugs into the United States. Snchez was arrested in Arizona, United States recently and then transferred to New York.
