In 2026, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region will continue to focus on building a global hub for basic research, promoting deep integration of scientific and industrial innovation, and improving the science and technology service system. Yesterday, during the Beijing International Science and Technology Innovation Center construction promotion meeting jointly held by the central and local governments, Beijing Municipality will strengthen its role as a source of innovation and leading hub, Tianjin will leverage its advanced manufacturing research and development advantages, and Hebei Province will expand industrial application scenarios. The three regions are working towards the goal of becoming a world-class hub for science and technology innovation by 2030, and a major global center for science, talent, and innovation by 2035. In 2026, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region will focus on building a global hub for basic research, strengthening strategic science and technology capabilities, and major science and technology infrastructure construction. The National Natural Science Foundation's joint fund for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region will be explored, projects such as the high-energy synchrotron radiation light source beamline project and research facilities for the mechanisms and interventions of human aging will be promoted for approval, with the potential for further enhancement of Beijing's capabilities in key national technologies. Furthermore, the modern industrial system will continue to upgrade in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. The three regions are committed to creating a global hub for artificial intelligence innovation, nurturing world-class pharmaceutical and health industry clusters, promoting the quality and efficiency of the new generation information technology industry, and seizing opportunities in the future development of industries. Based on the core framework of the "six chains and five clusters" for coordinated development of industries in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the three regions will promote special projects for collaborative innovation, expand capital investment, and establish cross-regional innovation alliances.
