According to the news on the website of Radio Television Hong Kong on May 16, the Financial Secretary of Hong Kong, Paul Chan Mo-po, stated that Hong Kong has outstanding advantages in four aspects: intellectual property protection, top research and development institutions and talent, capital markets, and synergy in the Greater Bay Area. It is conditionally able to become the core base of the global medical innovation ecosystem. Chan Mo-po said that the Hong Kong Medical Products Regulatory Centre will be established this year to support Hong Kong in the "first level approval" of drugs and medical devices, accelerating the listing of innovative drugs. In the He Tao Deep Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone, both sides are promoting the cross-border flow of biological samples and clinical data, and Hong Kong is also seeking to establish branches of mainland regulatory agencies.
