The Portuguese government plans to temporarily nationalize ownerless land.
The Portuguese government plans to temporarily register abandoned rural land of unconfirmed ownership in order to strengthen land maintenance and forest fire prevention and control. According to the "Portuguese Business Daily" reported on the 11th, this mechanism applies to rural land parcels that have been registered in the land database of the tax department, but whose ownership cannot be confirmed. The temporary national registration of land is valid for 15 years, during which time the land can be developed, utilized, or transferred to a third party. Legal property owners can claim ownership and retrieve the land within 15 years; if no one claims it after the deadline, the land will officially become state-owned.
