Fatih Birol, the head of the International Energy Agency, stated that the reputation of the Strait of Hormuz as a reliable channel for global energy trade may be permanently damaged due to its long-term closure. He pointed out that even if shipping resumes, "the vase has already been broken and cannot be glued back together", and he warned that this interruption has weakened confidence in this once critical artery for global oil and gas transportation. "If it has been closed once, it may be closed again."
