Hierarchical management of consumer-grade networked cameras corresponds to three levels of network security capabilities.
According to the information from the State Cyberspace Administration, based on the "Network Security Label Management Measures" jointly issued by the State Internet Information Office, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Public Security, the State Cyberspace Administration has organized the drafting of the "Implementation Rules for Network Security Labels for Consumer Internet-Connected Cameras" and related standards. These were publicly solicited for feedback yesterday, with a deadline for feedback set for the 23rd of this month.
The draft for feedback specifically defines consumer internet-connected cameras as standalone cameras purchased and used by individual consumers or organizations, providing audio and video information collection and processing services for individuals or organizations, with internet networking capabilities. The draft proposes that the network security labels for consumer internet-connected cameras correspond to three levels of network security capabilities, from basic, to enhanced, to advanced, indicated by one star, two stars, and three stars respectively. The network security capabilities of consumer internet-connected cameras should be tested in accordance with the "Network Security Label Consumer Internet-Connected Camera Security Requirements" to determine the levels of physical and hardware security, system and software security, network and communication security, data and personal information security, and security guarantees, among other individual network security capabilities.
