In April 2026, China's copper concentrate imports recorded their first decrease in five years.
According to the latest data from the General Administration of Customs, in April 2026, China's imports of copper ore and its concentrates amounted to 2.352 million metric tons, a sharp decrease of 19.57% year-on-year; the cumulative import volume from January to April was 9.915 million metric tons, a decrease of 0.8% compared to the same period last year. Since December 2020, China's imports of copper concentrates have consistently grown compared to the same period the previous year, but this is the first time in over five years that a decline has occurred.
