German Deputy Chancellor and Finance Minister Olaf Scholz called on US President Trump on the 4th to fulfill the tariff agreement reached with the European Union last summer. Scholz said, "Europe keeps its promises and now we hope that the US will do the same. Imposing tariffs will harm companies and employment on both sides of the Atlantic." If Trump raises the EU's tariff on cars exported to the US from the previous 15% to 25%, the EU will retaliate. EU countries, including Germany, have made their position very clear, "We do not want the situation to escalate, but we are also prepared for an escalation." (CCTV).
