The Netherlands will transport two suspected cases of the Hantavirus from the quarantined cruise ship.
The cruise operator where cases of the Han Tan virus were recently reported said that the Dutch government will try to send back to the Netherlands the two suspected cases that are still on board for treatment. World Health Organization officials stated on the 4th that the risk to public health from this infection incident is low, and there is "no need to panic." The cruise operator "Pan Sea Expedition" confirmed in a statement dated the 3rd that its operating cruise ship "Hondius" experienced a "serious medical incident," resulting in 3 deaths, with 2 on board and 1 after disembarking; 1 person is currently receiving intensive care in Johannesburg, South Africa, while the 2 individuals still on board "require urgent treatment." The statement said that the Dutch government has agreed to lead a joint operation to transfer the two individuals showing symptoms from Cape Verde to the Netherlands on the "Hondius." Additionally, the body of one male passenger who passed away and a passenger with close contact to the deceased, who is currently asymptomatic, will also be sent back to the Netherlands.
