The United Arab Emirates issued a missile threat alert on Monday, marking the first time such a warning has been issued since the ceasefire between the United States and Iran took effect about a month ago. This highlights the fragile diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the war that has already caused thousands of deaths and disrupted global energy supplies. The alert came hours before a UAE-owned oil tanker, operated by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, was hit by an Iranian drone in another incident outside the Strait of Hormuz. Before the war broke out at the end of February, about one-fifth of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas was transported through the Strait of Hormuz. It is not yet clear whether this alert was triggered by projectiles targeting the UAE or is related to the escalating situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
