Ding Hua Fu Cooperative Bank: Although the Canadian economy is growing, its foundation is unstable.
Royce Mendes, from the Co-operation Bank of Dinghua Fu, stated that the Canadian economy remains fragile in the first quarter, however GDP and employment data suggests that the country's economy is unlikely to experience excessive inflationary pressures. GDP grew by 0.2% in February, but showed weak growth in March. Mendes believes that the first quarter GDP growth rate, calculated by expenditure and industry, is around 1.5%, in line with the Bank of Canada's forecast. Given the slow start, the economist agrees with the Bank of Canada's view that the economy will achieve around 1.5% growth again in the second quarter.
