Bridgewater founder Dalio: In a stagflation environment, the Fed should not lower interest rates.
The founder of Bridgewater Associates stated that inflation pressures continue to add up as economic growth slows, and policymakers must remain cautious. Dalio said on Monday: "We are undoubtedly in a period of stagflation." Dalio warned that the US economy has entered a stagflation environment and pointed out that if Kevin Warsh, who is likely to succeed as chair of the Federal Reserve, chooses to cut interest rates, it would result in a policy mistake.
