US Treasury Secretary Benson: Last Friday, I held a constructive meeting with the EU Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Affairs. Both sides discussed the new version of the EU-US Critical Minerals Action Plan, as well as the progress on the implementation of the 2025 EU-US Joint Statement, which covers large-scale EU investments in the American automotive, pharmaceutical, and energy sectors. At the same time, both sides exchanged views on common priority issues such as economic security, investment screening, and resolving overcapacity risks. The United States emphasized the need to address the security threats posed by Iran to the Strait of Hormuz, and highlighted the core work direction of the United States as the current rotating chair of the G20, which is to ensure the stable operation of the food and fertilizer supply chain.
