On the evening of the 27th local time, Iraqi President Nazar al-Amiri appointed Ali Zahidi as the new Prime Minister of Iraq. Earlier in the day, leaders of various political parties in the "Coordinating Framework Alliance", the largest party bloc in the Iraqi National Assembly, reached a consensus to nominate Zahidi as the new Prime Minister of Iraq.
