The NPT Conference starts with the UN Secretary-General warning of increasing nuclear risks.

On April 27th local time, the Eleventh Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons opened at the United Nations headquarters in New York. The Secretary-General of the United Nations warned in his speech that the world is currently experiencing a "collective amnesia" regarding the dangers of nuclear weapons, with nuclear threats on the rise once again and arms control systems continuously being eroded. He called on all countries to fulfill their commitments under the treaty, reaffirming that disarmament and non-proliferation are the only true path to peace.
