Konstantin Vitt, portfolio manager at Pacific Investment Management Company, stated in a report that he expects the European Central Bank to keep interest rates unchanged at the April meeting and maintain a cautious stance amid high uncertainty. Before the ECB's policy decision was announced on Thursday, Vitt said, "At this stage, we still believe that the European Central Bank will remain cautious rather than take action." Vitt said that if the ECB were to respond to inflation risks, any measures are expected to be gradual rather than aggressive. Vitt stated that the likelihood of raising interest rates more than twice is small. Due to the increasing risks facing economic growth and inflation, policymakers may wait until the next round of staff forecasts in June before adjusting policies.
