Belgium's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Philippe Goffin visited China for the first time since taking office, and the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its expectations.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian presided over the routine press conference. During the meeting, Lin Jian announced that, at the invitation of member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi, Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Prayvo will visit China from April 27 to May 1. A journalist from the Beijing Daily Client asked how China evaluates the current Sino-Belgian relationship and what expectations China has for this visit. Lin Jian said that this year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Belgium, and this visit is Prayvo's first visit to China since assuming the position of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. China looks forward to deepening exchanges with Belgium on bilateral relations and international regional issues of common concern during this visit, expanding consensus, deepening cooperation, promoting the continuous, healthy and stable development of Sino-Belgian relations, and making new contributions to the development of China-EU relations.
