National Energy Administration: It is estimated that the maximum national electricity load in 2026 will be between 1.575 billion and 1.6 billion kilowatts.
Liu Mingyang, Deputy Director of the Electricity Department of the National Energy Administration, introduced at a routine press conference on the first quarter that, taking into account factors such as China's economic growth trend, meteorological conditions, and possible impacts of the external environment, it is expected that the national total electricity consumption will continue to exceed 10 trillion kilowatt-hours in 2026, with a possible increase of approximately 500 billion kilowatt-hours compared to the previous year, maintaining an overall stable growth trend. It is expected that the country's maximum electricity load in 2026 will be between 15.75 billion and 16 billion kilowatts, an increase of approximately 70 to 90 million kilowatts from last year. If there is a large-scale extreme high temperature weather, the maximum load may exceed 16 billion kilowatts.
