Pan Huimin, Deputy Director of the New Energy Department of the International Energy Agency: The amount of renewable energy generated has steadily increased, providing strong support for the overall electricity supply in society. The amount of renewable energy generated is close to 40%, with wind and solar power accounting for nearly a quarter of total electricity consumption. In the first quarter of this year, the national renewable energy generation reached 882.9 billion kilowatt-hours, accounting for 37.1% of total generation, consistently covering the combined electricity consumption of the tertiary industry and urban and rural residents. Of this, the combined wind and solar power generation was approximately 580.9 billion kilowatt-hours, accounting for over 23% of total electricity consumption in society.
