Li Wenguang: ADS driver assistance safety indicators are 4.2 times higher than the average in China, with only 1 collision in 300,000 automatic parking attempts.
Li Wenguang, President of the Autonomous Driving Product Line of BYD, stated at the Second Autonomous Driving Industry Development Forum that in China, on average, a serious accident requiring the deployment of airbags or the bursting of seat belts occurs every 1.8 million kilometers. Vehicles equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADS) have an indicator of 5.17 million kilometers in human driving mode, roughly 2.87 times the Chinese average level; when operating in assisted driving mode, this is further increased to 7.57 million kilometers, equivalent to 4.2 times the Chinese average level. In the area of parking, vehicles equipped with ADS have an automatic parking assistance system that only experiences one collision in 300,000 parking attempts, while the average for manual parking is one collision every 6700 attempts. "We are confident in automatic parking; its capabilities are much better compared to cruise control," he said.
